Albania Tourism, Real Estate and General Investments 2009
» 07/07/2009 - 11:22
Despite the global economic slowdown Albania is continuing to flourish and is attracting an overwhelming large numbers of visitors and investors.

From Jan to June 2009, over 951 thousand visitors entered Albanian borders and not mentioning that Albania has only approx 3.6 million inhabitants.

This shows that Albania is a destination not only for the summer season but also a tourist destination for throughout the year, thanks to its northern Alps yet to be discovered, endless seashores, rich history, archaeological sites and many more. Out of 951 thousand visitors, over 522 thousand were foreign visitors.

The July to October figures are yet to be seen but the predictions show huge increase in visitors. The large proportion of these visitors are holiday makers. Approx 5% are business and investment visitors.

As ever before, Albania is changing very fast and is finally establishing its tourism and investment dreams. Many major highways are being built/constructed, there is still more to be done in Albania’s infrastructure, tourism facilities, as there are yet no western style tourist facilities, hotels, resorts, entertainments etc.

However, these are very promising figures for Albanian economy. The latest statistics show that this years visitor numbers for periods from January to June 2009 compare to the same period of 2005 are nearly 2.4 times higher in 2009.

Latest published figures state that income from tourism for the period from January to June 2009 is 212 million Euros. This is double to what was achieved the previous two years.

Albania is expected to enjoy an steady economic growth due to macroeconomic stability, young workforce, low taxes, NATO member and expected to become an EU member in the coming years.

Albania Real estate and land investments are also on the increase. Albanian diaspora and foreign investors are attracted by Albanian coastal properties as well as Tirana properties that are expected to offer steady increase in value and steady rental income.
